Ok, I guess I am going to start a todo list for this site.
-I put up a simple logo, but I am on my laptop, So I can not do a great job at one. The source for the logo I used are attached to this post. If anybody has any better ideas, I would welcome them.
-Custom theme should not be that hard, because we can play with the css. After we decide on a logo, the theme should come next.
-Get the word out?
Any thing else? Other ideas? I was also thinking of setting up a Wordpress MU for designers who need blog. Maybe?

I think think about ways to keep close connections with GFWD. Such as a sidebar that displays the most recent designs, Exchange Footer Links, and finally income. We need to have ads or something to generate revenue to keep the domain and hosting (i know its hosted on colums but, yeah) and for contests. That might be getting a little ahead but yeah. That's what I've been thinking about.
Maybe we could have a little bar on the top of the screen, that says something like "Check the latest designs at GFWD!". I have setup a forum that links to a script that shows the latest designs from GFWD.
maybe sean would pay for some ad space
i think wordpress is overkill, unless we a truly going to manage a blog (do we want to)?
i don't think we want people just getting free blogs, that is what wordpress.com is for.

Well, blogs do create free content for the hosting site. And when you have more content, google will crawl the site more often. Also, when you start having a lot of links back and forth from blogs to RSS feeds to digg and what not you start pulling in more traffic. But you are right, managing a site for blogs is probably more difficult than just a forum.

We have a WordPress plugin widget that displays the latest designs from GFWD's and caches the screen shots on the persons own hosting:

The way you have your script now it's hot linking the images which we are not going to allow and will start blocking soon.
Wolfram has made a way of showing the latest designs (no screen shots) not using WordPress but just PHP which can be seen here:

Oh and no, currently I will not be paying for ad space. Nothing personal, but all available money is going into hosting, marketing, etc for GFWD's at the moment, but we'd be more than happy to do a link exchange.
I also have made a way of showing the latest designs with screen shots as well as information about the designs but the page is updated manually so it will only show the latest designs when I remember to update the page:
