I have a good knowledge of C, C++,JAVA .. but now I want to learn PHP and joomla ..
So, where have I to start ? What should I prefer for learning the PHP and joomla my self .. ? Thanks for help..!!

Start with the docs and tutorials at the joomla site
I learned Mambo and Joomla through trial and error by setting up a trial site.
I think this is the best way to explore the CMS without the fear of screwing up a real site.
Documentations and tutorials are a great help but nothing beats experience.
For your friend in particular, encourage her to "play around" the system. Assure her that there's always a backup copy to restore if something screws up big time.
